MEANS

As a community-led project, MEANS is entirely funded by artists, musicians, labels, publishers and manufacturers placing adverts in the magazine.

We know the world of grass-roots arts can be financially challenging, so we have priced our ad spaces on a sliding scale, making it affordable for even smaller artists to get their voices heard.

Website adverts

We offer monthly advert slots, featured both on our main page and within our longer posts. Purchasing an ad slot not only means you will feature prominently on our web page and Substack, but you will be actively helping us in our mission to support grassroots culture.

Physical magazine adverts

Each edition of the physical magazine is funded by artists, labels, manufactures and other cultural entities purchasing pages within it.

Our approach to adverts is a little different: we encourage you to think of your ‘advert’ more like a page that you can decorate as creatively as you like: artworks, social statements, cryptic riddles… make your page as interesting and unique as you can.

You can purchase either an half A5 or full A5 page. These will be printed in full colour. Our preference is for artistic, creative images that help excite readers about your music/art /stuff: the magazine is designed to be aesthetically unusual, visually exciting, and much more than simply a collection of adverts. You can include link/QR codes, and we will happily include Bandcamp codes / stickers / prints / CD’s or any other promo materials within the magazine itself (just get in touch and we’ll discus the details!). 

For each page size, you can choose to pay the minimum price, a middle price, or a higher price. For smaller artists – most of whom operate at a loss – we hope the lower price is affordable, but for artists who actually break even, or even make a little money from their art, we would encourage you to consider paying a little more. Doing so helps us to pay our contributors more, and increases the sustainability and quality of the magazine. However, you are completely free to pay which ever price you wish, without judgement.
